Blog #14 Which food issue is the most worrisome? Why? How would you solve the problem?
I think the most worrisome food issue is obesity. Many Americans suffer from excess body fat that has accumulated to the extent that it may have a adverse effect on health. These problems occur because of the many fast food restaurants that are around the world. Obesity increases the likelihood of various diseases, particularly heart disease, type 2 diabetes, breathing difficulties during sleep, certain types of cancer, and osteoarthritis. I would solve this problem by having a safety act passed. This act should include forcing kids to eat nutritional foods and help them cut down on fatty food. This act will save many lives and let people live happily.

Blog #12 What should be done about GMOs?
The thing that needs to be done about GMOs is that they need to be taken out of the market. I object GMO's on many levels including safety issues, ecological concerns, and economic concerns raised by the fact that these organisms are subject to intellectual property of law. The food should put in grocery markets should be organic, like Trader Joe for example. Organic food doesn't have chemicals added to them and doesn't trick the consumer like GMO products.

Blog #12 What are at least three ways to prevent soil erosion?
A way to prevent soil erosion is by planting vegetation, trees, ground cover, shrubs, and other plants. Roots from these plants will help hold soil in place on the ground. Soil will not blow away due to wind, or be washed away from rain as easily. Another way is to create windbreaks, which are barrier rows planted along the windward exposure of a plot of land. Windbreaks made out of trees, such as evergreen trees or bushes help prevent erosion by preventing wind from blowing across your land. The third way to prevent soil erosion is to grow cover crops on farm land. When land is not being used during the off season, cover crops can help prevent soil erosion due to wind and rain.

Blog #11 Describe 3 abiotic factors that could affect biotic potential (population growth) and how they would affect it.
Pollution- pollution produced by humans activies affects the population and biotic potential greatly. Global warming for example, which is caused by humans change the environment that animals live i and can cause them to go extinct. Polar bears, for example are already dying off because global warming is causing the ice caps to melt.
Humidity- it is also another factor that affects animals and population. Some plants are mostly water starved, so humidity plays a large role in their biology.
Pressure- an abiotic factor that mostly affects underwater sea animal population. Marine biomes are affected because many sea organisms can only survive under a certain amount of pressure.

Blog #10: Describe why sampling is important to the study of populations
Sampling is very important to the study of the population because we know how their species live and where they ahve traveled for a period of time. It allows us to keep track of what is happening to the population of specific type of species. It also allows us to record more information about them and tag them. Sampling a species will allow us to know more about their inner self and allow us to even help breed more of their species.

Blog #9 Which biome would you most like to visit? Why?
The biome that i would like to visit the most is the tropical rainforest. I would like to visit the tropical rainforest because i would like to see all of the many exotic species it contains. The tropical rainforest is home to more than 50% of all the species on the planet. Even though we did not discover all of the species, it leaves a curious mind so that people won't destroy it. I would like to be like tarzan and be one with the animals in the rainforest. I think that the weather would also be very comfortable.

Blog #8 Should re-wilding species be keystone species? How could re-wilding be made successful?
I think re-wilding species is not a good idea. I think the rewilding of keystone species is very important. Without keystone species, we would not have the animals that we have today. Keystone species help to support the ecosystem of which they are a part of. I think the success of re-wilding is up to the humans who destroy the environment. Destroying trees and other natural environments for land is not going to help re-wilding at all. A good example is the prairie dog. If they become extinct, all the species that rely on them for food are going to become extinct as well, unless they adapt.

Blog #7: What surprised you most about the waste we create over a lifetime?
The thing that surprised me about the waste we create over a lifetime is the amount. It surprised me that we produce so much material, but it takes very long for it to decompose. A solution for this problem, is to make products with materials that are recyclable. If there are products that have cannot be recycled, we should use less of it and reuse it as much as possible

Blog #6 : What can diet tell us about the organisms that are eating? Give three examples
Diet can tell us about the organisms that we are eating by the nutrients we take in. Depending on the diet we have, shows on our appearance. If we are unhealthy, our physical performance and our discolored face can show that we are unhealthy.
If and owl eats a mouse. And poops out a pellet we are able to see the proteins that it took in by its pellets or droppings. Bears are healthy because they eat a lot of fish, and fish have a lot of protein.
EXAMPLES: Owls eat mouses
Bears eat fishes.
Humans eat cow.

Blog #5 Would you consider becoming a vegetarian or vegan? Why or why not?
I would consider becoming a vegetarian because its much i think its good to not eat meat. Since meat has a lot of fat and nasty things in it, it would be better to stay away from it. If you eat a lot of vegetables, you can have clear skin and that is what I prefer. Being a vegan is to much for me. I like dairy products so I like being a vegetarian much more.

Which environmentalist do you feel made the greatest contribution to environmental science today? Why?
I think that Al Gore made the greatest contribution to the environmental science. To show his dedication, he even ran from the President of the United States. People thought he was crazy and they shut him down. He has done his best to help everyone understand that global warming is a global issue. There was a movie about him that explained what the future is going to be like if we continue our carelessness.
Discussion
After doing two timelines on environmental science, predict the future. Where are we going what laws and/or attitudes will change in the next 10-15 years ? 50 years?
I predict, the future will be really hot, and there will be cities that are underwater. The laws are trying to help the environment. Making cars that run on electricity, solar panels, and riding bicycles are signs of people caring for the environment. Everyone has to change their attitudes, and wake up. This is an issue that everyone has to take part of. If we do not shape up, people will live in a dying world.

Blog #3 based upon Ch 1 where do you think humans are having the most impact? Why?
Humans are having the most impact on the quality of the air and the atmosphere. We are producing greenhouse gases that are harming the atmosphere. The factories are producing smog and dangerous gases that ruin the ruin the air quality. The industries are releasing tons of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases.
Discussion #3 Why isn't the US more of an environmental leader in the world?
The US isn't more of an environmental leader in the world because we are to focused on the advances and products we make. The US thinks that the whole global warming and Al Gores warning was a myth that could not happen.
